Day 7 (Thur)

Sells Green - Seend Lock Bridge - Semington

Seend Lock Bridge
Seend Bottom Lock and Seend Lock Bridge
In the afternoon we move on to Semington, we need to be within about an hours cruise of Bradford on Avon. Unfortunately the mooring opportunities at Semington are limited. The canal seems very shallow and it is impossible to get the barge close to the bank without grounding. We resort to using the gangplank.

A reminder that RAF Lynham lies just to the North.

Another easy day with just a few locks and swing bridges to tackle. We moor up just before Seend Lock Bridge opposite the Barge Inn. It seems like as good a place as any to try a bit of sketching and painting. We each pick our subject, with varying results.

Day 8 (Fri)

Semington - Bradford on Avon Marina

An early start, to finish our packing and complete the final couple of miles back to the marina to drop off the boat. A week of steering through locks and passing other barges, coupled with the lack of wind, allows a fairly deft manoeuvre back into the marina. The 'parking' even gains the approval of Sally Boats staff, although relieved to execute it without embarrassing ourselves, we are sad that it brings our holiday to an end.
