Day 3 (Sun)

Devizes Marina - All Cannings - Pewsey Wharf (French Horn)

We decide to make this a more leisurely day after the previous day's experience. By lunchtime we have made it to All Cannings, so we moor up and walk to a nearby pub. Unfortunately they only serve snacks, so we walk back to the barge where the galley staff get to work yet again.

At this point the canal passes Stowell Park and under 'Lady's Bridge'.

This was built as part of an appeasement to Lady Susannah Wroughton, who objected to the canal cutting through her land.

Further east on the canal is Stowell Park Bridge, a miniature suspension bridge and the only surviving example of it's kind.

The afternoon's cruising gets us to Pewsey Wharf. We fill the water tank and offload our rubbish and moor up for the night. We have time to stroll into Pewsey and then back to the French Horn Pub/Restaurant for excellent food and beer.

Day4 (Mon)

Pewsey Wharf - Wooton Rivers (Royal Oak) - Pewsey Wharf

White Horse
One of the 7 White Horses in the area. At least 2 of these were visible from this stretch of the canal.

We decide that this day must be our 'turn around' day, to give us enough time to get back to Bradford on Avon by 9 am on Friday. So we decide to just cruise up the canal to a turning point near Wooton Rivers and come back to the same mooring at Pewsey Wharf. We stop for lunch at Wooton Rivers and find the Royal Oak Pub. The pub has a great atmosphere, extensive menu and good beer.
